Memories of Kauwabagh: the brick school by the rail yard

Ask an old student what they remember and the same picture forms: a lovely brick structure set within the railway colony, roads lined with trees, the yard close enough to hear the shunting engines.

Public reviews of the school read like a guest book of gratitude. "Passed from this school in 1981 - it was a wonderful school then, great teachers and students," writes one. Another simply: "Best memories." Teachers are remembered by name decades on - "Mr Lajpat sir," writes a former student, among many such tributes.

These fragments survive scattered across the internet. The association's archive will gather them properly - your photographs, your class groups, your stories. When registration asks you for a memory, write freely: you are writing the first pages of the archive.
